heels ... a girls best friend ?

some of my girl friends can basically run a marathon in heels .
I always envy women who can walk effortlessly in sky-high heels ,
as any outfit can look twice as chic just by wearing them .
I was never a heels girl - I never have found heels comfortable
( minus a great wedge / platform )
& am such a baby when it comes to pain .

unfortunately , I have a weakness for buying heels just because
they are so beautiful , but they end up collecting dust in my shoe closet .

here are some heels I am in love with :

1. ) embroidered tribal wedge by theodora and callum

2. ) j.crew's viv pump

3. ) bruner platform by report

4. ) colorblock pump by h & m

5. ) a girl can dream ... my favorite heels of all time

jamaican beef patties

I always see jamaican beef patties at the local deli
& am always curious as to what they are .
why are they in the refrigerated case next to the turkey & cheese ? I was confused .
as I judged them for being dirty & unhealthy , I found myself wondering what they
actually tasted like - so I decided to make them myself instead of continuing
to hold a grudge against the ethnic meat patty .

similar to my beef empanadas ( made here ) - they were easy to make ,
full of flavor , & wrapped in a flaky crust .

[ I added my mom & dad's pickled hot peppers straight from our garden at home .
you can't get fresher than that ! ]

[ tons of spices & vegetables in the meat - what makes it jamaican is
the curry & paprika flavors . I added ketchup to the meat for the flavor
I thought it was lacking . ]

[ of course paired with sriracha  ]

pearl river mart . it was an absurdly warm day ( read : 63 degrees in nyc )

drybar nyc

I've been dying to try drybar - a hair salon devoted only to blow outs .
my hair has been unruly recently , so before my tv appearance I made sure
to make an appointment at drybar !
I've heard so much about it , & finally had the perfect opportunity to try it out .

it was a girly girl's dream :

assorted cookies at the welcome desk

washes are included !

complimentary beverage -I chose coffee
( but you could choose from coffee , tea , OR
a skinnygirl margarita - I die . )

the notebook playing as I get my hair done

final product !
I got " the manhattan "

mediterranean halibut sandwich

I know I told you all I wasn't a fishy person , so it might appear strange that yet again
I made fish for dinner last night . I could not resist making these sandwiches - a twist on
a classic tuna sandwich using halibut instead & packed with mediterranean flavors
( i . e. capers & sun-dried tomatoes )
